The basin of the Aterno – Pescara River (3.200 km², Abruzzo Region, Italy), has deeply changed during the last century from the hydraulic point of view (changes of the main river beds, cross-drainage works and water intakes for agriculture, industry, hydroelectric plants and fish farming, retaining works) and from the environmental point of view(change of water quality). Moreover there are many hydraulic dangers along the river, namely the “ATO 4” District (EPSA) is affected by important problems related with the use and management of water resources in term of water supply. The overall objective of the project is the definition of (short, medium and long term) Action Plan to support the relevant Authorities in the sustainable management and rational use of water resources (water supply) in the EPSA area.
