The Kick-off Meeting of the project “Consulting services for the up-scaling of the decision support system for operations on the Shire River (ODSS) through an enhanced hydrometric network system in Malawi”, promoted as part of the “Resilience and Disaster Risk Management Project in Malawi” of the Ministry of Water Resources, through The World Bank funds, and commissioned to the group BETA Studio S.r.l., Z&A Consulting Engineers (Cyprus) and Design & Management Consultants (Malawi).
The project aims to implement an integrated system of prediction / alert of flood phenomena and support for the rational management of water resources to cope with dry periods. It will therefore represent a valuable tool to mitigate the hydrogeological risk of the population and support the economic activities of the agricultural sector in the Shire River basin.
BETA Studio presented and discussed, together with the partners, the key points of the project to the representatives of the local authorities and in particular of the Project Coordinator Unit of the Ministry of Water Resources of Malawi.
